TEACHING AND CONSULTING

TURN YOUR PASSION INTO A CAREER: LEARN THE TECHNIQUES YOU NEED TO ACHIEVE SOUND MASTERY

Becoming a sound engineer takes time and dedication. «10 years in the business are not enough to call yourself a sound engineer», one of my teachers told me once. Obviously that sentence disheartened me somewhat, but over time I understood its meaning: one’s own skills and knowledge should never be taken for granted. Many sound engineers, in fact, keep making the same mistakes for years because they are unable to bring themselves into question. I started to play around with microphones in 2001, and since then I've (fortunately) always put my abilities into question; as a consequence, driven by passion, I kept studying, reading books, attending seminars and reading websites on the subject. Of course, some skills require time to develop (one has to train his/her listening skills, for example), but I am convinced that with the right guidance, the learning process can be sped up significantly.

HOW I CAN HELP

If you are interested in learning my craft, I am available for individual and group meetings (in person or on Skype).

I can help with tutoring and lessons on the topics of recording, production, mastering and any other matter concerning the work of a sound engineer. You can have me examine your work, explain how microphones work, you can learn my techniques and be guided by me step by step on what I do, how, when and why. During my lessons you will learn the basics of the craft, put them into practice and gain real project experience.

I am available to help you improve the acoustics of your room; please contact me to clear your doubts about the materials with which to build acoustic panels, to learn how to plan your studio, for tips on which gear you should buy.

COURSES AND SEMINARS

SonusFactor organizes courses and seminars on various topics related to sound and record production.

In August of 2014 the first SonusFactor Home Recording Workshop was born - a 6-day workshop during which the students watch and participate the production of a song from the initial idea to the mixing phase.

The workshop is useful to learn the practices of record production, the obstacles that may affect the end result and how to overcome them. Home Recording Workshop covers a variety of topics and is, at present, the most comprehensive record production workshop organized by SonusFactor.
